Why are Christians supporting and promoting Zionism rather than proclaiming Zion’s King?
Because that’s what they’re learning in church and in the Christian media. Christian Zionism is another bad fruit of dispensationalism. It is deception at it’s worst. Christians are inadvertently supporting the destruction of life and property, and doing it in the name of Jesus Christ. They may not realize it, but they are “following the leader” rather than following the Lord. Another reason may be the news we watch. It is often biased, sanitized, and censored. If we could just get a glimpse of reality, it would send us racing to Word of God for truth. That’s what happened to me.
Scripture does not leave anyone to wonder who Zion’s King would be, or what his reign would be like. Zion’s King would be just. He would set the captives free by blood covenant. He would be the King of Peace to all people, both to the Jews and to the Gentiles. His dominion would be to the ends of the earth, and not limited to an earthly piece of land!
Zechariah the prophet said:
“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace unto the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth. As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water. Zechariah 9:9-11
In the following verse we see the fulfillment of Zechariah’s prophecy.
“On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord. And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written, Fear not, daughter of Zion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass’s colt.” John 12:13-15
King David said God would raise up Christ to sit on his throne. This speaks of Christ’s resurrection. Christ, the King, now occupies the throne of David.
“Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption. Acts 2:29-31
Zion’s King is the King of the whole earth.
“Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:” Romans 3:29
GENTILES (ethnos) a race (as of the same habit), i.e. a tribe; specially, a foreign (non-Jewish) one (usually, by implication, pagan):–Gentile, heathen, nation, people.
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” Matthew 28:18
POWER (exousia): (in the sense of ability); privilege, i.e. (subjectively) force, capacity, competency, freedom, or (objectively) mastery (concretely, magistrate, superhuman, potentate, token of control), delegated influence: authority, jurisdiction, liberty, power, right, strength.
The only “forever” Jerusalem is the Jerusalem which is above.
“But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,” Hebrews 12:22
“For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.” Hebrews 13:14
What is written, is written.
“And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS. This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin. Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews. Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.” John 19:19-22
