THE ROSARY

Years ago I overheard a Christian speaking to another Christian. He said that the Lord wouldn’t send his grandmother to hell just because she prayed the rosary. But the truth is that if someone is praying the rosary it is an indication that they are not born again. And if they are not born again they will never see heaven.

As a born again Christian, and former Roman Catholic, I am grieved that within the “born again church” there are those who teach that praying the rosary is acceptable to God. I am also grieved that Mother Teresa is held up as an example of true Christianity.

This is a quote by Billy Graham:

“When Mother Teresa died the only thing she owned was her rosary beads and the simple clothing that she wore. But one writer said of her she took a vow of poverty and became fabulously wealthy in the ways that really matter. She’s wealthy in the next world.” (Billy Graham San Francisco Bay Area Crusade, Excerpt from December 1997 televised broadcast, Speaker: Billy Graham, Topic: The Value of a Soul)

The is a quote by Mother Teresa:

“If coming face to face with God we accept Him in our lives, then we . . . become a better Hindu, a better Muslim, a better Catholic, a better whatever we are . . . . What God is in your mind you must accept.” (Desmond Doig, Mother Teresa: Her People and Her Work, Harper & Row, 1976, p. 156)

This is how I prayed “the rosary” to “Mary” before I was born again:

“Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.”

I prayed to Mary and I petitioned Mary. I prayed this prayer over and over again, for many many years. Then I was born again and, as a born again Christian, I repented of the idolatry of praying to Mary. I call it idolatry because the Bible calls it idolatry. The Bible also says that idolaters will not enter heaven. It was a vain hope for me to think that Mary would help me at the hour of my death.

These are simple, basic bible truths. If we really love someone we will tell them the truth. Souls are at stake, yet it seems that false prophets within the “church” are praised no matter what they say. Why?

  1. Yes, many similarities.

It makes me think of the similarities to Jesus that the RC church teaches about Mary. For example, Catholicism teaches that Mary was without sin, that she ascended into heaven in bodily form, that Mary is a mediator, and at times it is taught that she is co-redeemer. I’m not sure if the last one is “official” church teaching.

I like that . . . “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so” . . . Amen!

  4. I am so surprised that the writer has so clear understanding of Roman Catholic Church, that is not very common.

Yes, I was born in a Roman family. I accepeted Jesus as my savior when I was 20 and follow the Bible. Since Roman teachings are opposite to the Bible, I walked in very opposite way to it the rest of my life.

I praise Jesus, only Lord and Savior, and God, for your pages. I have not been able to read all of them, but what I read is very good. Congratulations.

  5. The rosary. I loved my rosary. I loved the novenas and the ritual where the priest did the incense and said the Blessed be God prayer. I felt so holy.

I was so deceived and dead in my sins.
Rituals, and the rosary is a smoke screen to keep us from really seeing how our sin separates us from God and there are not enough prayers that can be said to atone for our sin. Simply trust in Him for taking our sin and washing us in His blood. I repented of my sins and trusted only Christ, not Mary.

I threw away that rosary when I became born again.
I was grateful to God for the simplicity in Christ. No more trying to work my way to God, through Mary or rituals.

I think Billy Graham is a deceiver! I used to admire him and bought his books. Then I read comments he made on Catholics, Mother Teresa etc., and Irealized his own words reveal his heart.

He does not understand the Gospel.

Or He would not allow those who go forward at his crusades to be funneled back to the wicked Roman Catholic church that mocks the Atonement!

Protestants who believe they can fellowship with those who say the rosary are blind. Because you can not fellowship with anyone who mocks the Atonement and asks a dead woman to pray for them at the hour of their death.

  6. If only more Roman Catholics understood this too! But instead, we should pray for them, for their eyes of understanding would be enlightened by the Word of God. God bless you, in the name of Jesus.
