ISRAEL MY BELOVED

Israel, My beloved, My chosen …

How often have we heard that phrase? How did we get to the point where we, as Christians, think unbelieving Israel is the Lord’s beloved, and chosen people? How did we get to the point where we are convinced that if we bless unbelieving Israel, we will in turn receive a blessing? We really need to meditate on this.

Believers in Jesus Christ, both Jew and Gentile, are the Lord’s chosen, the Lord’s beloved, and the true Israel of God. It is when we bless a believer that we are promised a reward. It’s Jesus, not Israel, that should be our focus. Jesus is being eclipsed before our very eyes.

Matthew 10:42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

True Israelites …

Romans 2:28-29 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

John Wesley Commentary

“For he is not a Jew – In the most important sense, that is, one of God’s BELOVED people.”

True children of Abraham …

John 8:39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham.

Galatians 3:7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

John 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.

Abraham’s seed is Christ …

Galatians 3:29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Do we really want to bless unbelieving Israel? Preach the good news to them, like Paul, Peter, and the others did. Preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to them.  If they believe, it will be the salvation of their souls.

  1. All of what you say is very true. I do know about the Scofield Bible and it’s notes etc. This whole situation is very distressing because so many Christians are caught up in dispensational teachings, many without giving these teachings the label of dispensationalism. That’s how I was.
I came to a point where I knew that I needed to descipher the difference between what I had learned in church and what I learned from God’s word. Somehow the two seemed to have become enmeshed in my mind.

It’s a dangerous teaching, I know you know that. It draws Christians into politics, zionism, war, etc. As we pray and write my hope is that the Lord will open the eyes of other Christians, as He has done with us.

    Blessings,

  2. We, the Church particularly in the West, got here, into this wrong mind-set, by the introduction of dispensationalist teachings Cathy–

When i was studying the foundational teachings of this form of theology, …from the teachings of Darby, and in particular, Scofield, and saw how it was picked up by other bible teachers from them originally–(the Brethren Movement being one of the first) and taught in the majority of our Churches and Christian Universities, it opened my eyes.

The Scofield Reference Bible, was at one time, the Bible of choice of most pastors and Bible teachers here in America, as well as in the majority of Bible Universities….it still is in many cases, concerning Universities.

Have you ever read through one–the notes Scofield included in his reference Bible?

    I have…

This is the root where most of this came from..

Its very strange, for if you go back prior to this teaching being introduced by these two men in particular, you’ll find no trace of it in earlier writings. But whats more important, is there is no trace of it in the Word of God itself!
