THE RAPTURE AT THE SECOND COMING

SIMULTANEOUS: existing, occurring, or operating at the same time; concurrent: simultaneous movements; simultaneous translation. (dictionary.com)

Dispensational theology falsely teaches that God has “two separate people” on earth. These two, they say, are Israel and the Church.

Scripture tells us that God has “one people” on this earth, that includes both Jew and Gentile. This “one people group” believes in Jesus Christ as the Messiah, and are filled with the Holy Ghost.

This “two people” error has given birth to the “two second comings” error. This error has also been propagated by falsely teaching that God’s people cannot be on earth during a time of God’s wrath. Is that what the bible teaches?  No it is not.

Some examples of God’s “simultaneous” deliverance and judgement are:

The Plagues of Egypt (Exodus 7-11):

1. Believers Spared

2. Unbelievers Judged

The Flood (Genesis 6-9):

1. Believers Spared

2. Unbelievers Judged

The Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 18-19)

1. Believers Spared

2. Unbelievers Judged

The Destruction of Jerusalem (*Luke 21:20-22):

1. Believers Spared

2. Unbelievers Judged

What does the bible say about the Second Coming?

1. Believers Spared

2. Unbelievers Judged

2 Peter tells us that the Lord will come as a thief in the night for unbelievers, and all will be destroyed:

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

2 Peter 3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

2 Peter 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

1 Thessalonians tells us that the Lord will come as a thief in the night for unbelievers, and all will be destroyed:

1 Thessalonians 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

1 Thessalonians 5:3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

There are believers who are alive on “that day.” But “that day” would not overtake believers as a thief:

1 Thessalonians 5:4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

1 Thessalonians 5:5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

1 Thessalonians 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

1 Thessalonians 5:7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

1 Thessalonians 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

The wrath of God does not come on the believer, though these events occur simultaneously:

1 Thessalonians 5:9F or God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

2 Thessalonians 1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

2 Thessalonians 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

2 Thessalonians 1:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

There is only one “second coming.” Once the Lord comes there will be no second chance for anyone to be saved. That’s why the “secret rapture” teaching of dispensational theology is so dangerous. It is a lie from the devil, who is the father of lies (John 8:44). His aim? The destruction of souls.

JOHN WESLEY’S COMMENTARY:

Labour that whenever he cometh ye may be found in peace – May meet him without terror, being sprinkled with his blood, and sanctified by his Spirit, so as to be without spot and blameless.

2 Peter 3:14-18 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
