Sometimes we hear things that may sound strange to us even though what we are hearing is truth. We may react this way because what we are hearing is not accepted or believed by the majority. This principle can be applied to many things, including biblical doctrines, but it can also be applied to the very Gospel itself. I know that within my own family many think that the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ is some strange thing. I meditate on that sometimes and find it both sad and amazing. The true Gospel is a glorious Gospel. It comes with life changing power and more importantly it gives all who believe eternal life. The glorious Gospel, the Gospel that people have lived and died for, and has been preached and loved by so many, is also considered a strange thing by many others. I pray the Lord would give them eyes to see!
Luke 5:26 And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day.
Acts 17:18 Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection.
Acts 17:20 For thou bringest certain strange things to our ears: we would know therefore what these things mean.
1 Peter 4:4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
