IF JESUS WALKED THE EARTH TODAY …

IF JESUS WALKED THE EARTH TODAY

If Jesus walked the earth today,

Would you hear all He had to say?

Would you believe Him, come what may,

If Jesus walked the earth today?

* * *

If Jesus walked the earth today,

Would Jesus’ Word, with you hold sway?

Would suffering be the price you’d pay,

If Jesus walked the earth today?

* * *

If Jesus walked the earth today,

Would it be you, His Word gainsay?

Would it be just another day,

If Jesus walked the earth today?

* * *

If Jesus walked the earth today,

Would you, like Judas, Him betray?

Would you follow, or turn away,

If Jesus walked the earth today?

Acts 28:24 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.

NOT OF THIS WORLD

We are believers.  We are servants of the King of Kings.  Things should be different.  Why is there such injustice in my situation? Have you ever thought that?  Have you ever wondered why things are not as you expected them to be?  The Lord knows, and He tell us why, and comforts us with these words …

John 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world …

A TIME TO DIE …

My dad left this earth sometime during the night or early this morning.  I don’t have all the details yet.  I am so grateful that the Lord allowed me to spend extra time with him early last week and also to spend the day with him yesterday.

Job 1:21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

Ecclesiastes 3:2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

I wrote the following post entitled THE OFTEN FORGOTTEN PEOPLE one year ago, in March of 2009 …

“I don’t think there is anywhere else I would rather be than with the elderly and sick people who reside in our nursing homes. The Lord has given me such a love for these precious souls.  When I was first born again, twenty years ago, the Lord led me to nursing home ministry.  It has been the greatest blessing of my life to have an opportunity to minister the love of God to these often forgotten people. I remember a pastor who once said that the Lord will follow a person to their grave with the offer of salvation and eternal life. (Once life is gone is too late to be saved.)  I would love to show you all the people at the Sunday services but I believe there are privacy issues that prohibit me from taking their pictures without permission and posting them.  So here is a photo of my 92 year old dad, whom I love dearly, as a representative of these precious people. I am so grateful that my father is still alvie.  The nursing homes are a mission field, and we may never know this side of heaven how many souls have responded to their final call to salvation.”

IS YOUR FAITH BEING TESTED?

Are you going through the fire?  Is the devil whispering in your ear that God isn’t answering your prayers; and is he telling you that you’ve been mistaken in discerning the Lord’s voice?  Well take heart brethren, your faith is being tested!

The Lord wants us to trust Him in all things.  If we are born again the Lord hears every prayer that we pray.  He is paying attention, and He is involved in every detail of our lives because we are His children and He loves us. The Lord is righteous, and benevolent, and deserving of our trust because of His very nature.  The Lord, in His wisdom, knows exactly what to do when answering our prayers.  And even if the Lord is silent when we pray, silence is not to be perceived as disinterest.  The Lord is as involved in our situation when there is silence as when we receive a dramatic or immediate answer to our prayers.  Is your faith being tested?  Years ago I heard a Pastor say … “If you don’t understand, trust in the Sovereignty of God.”  Never forgot it.

1 Peter 1:6-7  Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

James 1:3  Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

James 1:12  Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

1 Peter 4:12-19  Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES

As I sat with my father last week and observed how feeble he had become my mind went back to earlier days when we were all much younger.  And although those days were certainly not trouble free, there was activity and there was time left to live out life.  As I sat there and pondered these things the words “days of wine and roses” came to my mind.  I looked up the meaning and this is what I found …

Dictionary.com describes them as  …

a period of happiness and prosperity

Thinking on these things today, which is also the third anniversary of my mother’s death, I wrote this poem …

DAYS OF WINE AND ROSES

The days of wine and roses,
They have been called by the world,
But we as Christians know that,
Just like flowers they unfold.

The days are just a vapor,
Oh, if we had only known,
So fanciful and passing,
In vanity they were sown.

The days of wine and roses,
Cannot have them back again,
And even if we could have,
Would we choose as we did then?

Lord please cleanse these our vessels,
With new wine and with your blood,
Please change our hearts forever,
By your Spirit’s cleansing flood.

The days of wine and roses,
Seemed to us a sweet sweet song,
But like the flowers fading,
The wind blows and they are gone.

The only wine of value,
Is the shedding of Christ’s blood,
The only rose enduring,
Rose of Sharon, our beloved.

Isaiah 40:7-8) The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: because the spirit of the LORD bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass. The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

James 4:14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

Song of Solomon 2:1 I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily of the valleys.

Acts 2:13-18  Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine. But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words: For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

1 Corinthians 11:25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
