AS A FLOWER OF THE FIELD …

Psalm 103 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel. The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him. For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust. As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more. But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children; To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them. The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all. Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word. Bless ye the LORD, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure. Bless the LORD, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the LORD, O my soul.

Thank you for your prayers Cathy. I thought I’d mentioned this situation to you before, but seeing these verses — and then being at a get together last night where she “should” have been but couldn’t be — (and she had a loving note delivered there to me) just underlined it all. Even though I am sad, I must use this day to love beyond myself, both to God and man. For His glory. Because eternity is forever.

My 40 year old friend is dying of cancer. It’s not that I’ve known her for years and years. It’s not even that I know her as well as I’d like. But ours was a growing relationship; and I’ve cherished what we shared together.
Now she is too sick to see me. She is so weak she can bearly tolerate moments (not hours — moments) with her husband, children, and mother (who buried a beloved husband a year or so ago; and another daughter a few years ago — who also died of cancer). Her best friend since youth was here to be with her; and they parted with the promise of seeing one another in glory, if they never see each other again here on earth.
Life is fleeting. Each day matters.
Do we remember that when we wake up grouchy and “bite” at those we love best? Do we take that into account when we neglect to pray for the lost, or complain instead of give thanks and praise?
Even if one lives till 70 or 80, it is but a breath — and then it is gone.
“But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children; To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.”
That’s what is really important. That’s what we need to focus on: Christ, His everlasting love and mercy to us; and keeping His covenant, remembering His commands. Then we can be together always, in His house forever.
    Blessings.

We have been praying for your friend and the situation. There is so much pain in this life.

To be with the Lord forever, that is our heart’s desire. And to walk in love and share the Gospel with as many as we can is our aim while we remain on this earth. So many willingly go into eternity without the Lord. Unimaginable! Our lives at best are as a breath, regardless of how old we are.

Psalms 121:1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

Psalms 121:2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

      Blessings,
