THERE IS NO REDEMPTION IN HELL!

Matthew 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

For what is a man profited … – To gain the whole world means to possess it as our own – all its riches, its honors, and its pleasures.

“To lose his own soul” means to be cast away, to be shut out from heaven, to be sent to hell. Two things are implied by Christ in these questions:

1. That they who are striving to gain the world, and are unwilling to give it up for the sake of Jesus, will lose their souls; and,

2. That if the soul is lost, nothing can be given in exchange for it, or that it can never afterward be saved. There is no redemption in hell.

Clarke:

The world, the devil, and a man’s own heart are opposed to his salvation; therefore it is difficult. The soul was made for God, and can never be united to him, nor be happy, till saved from sin: therefore it is necessary. He who is saved from his sin, and united to God, possesses the utmost felicity that the human soul can enjoy, either in this or the coming world.

If any man will have the name and credit of a disciple, let him follow Christ in the work and duty of a disciple. If all worldly things are worthless when compared with the life of the body, how forcible the same argument with respect to the soul and its state of never-ending happiness or misery!

Thousands lose their souls for the most trifling gain, or the most worthless indulgence, nay, often from mere sloth and negligence.

Whatever is the object for which men forsake Christ, that is the price at which Satan buys their souls.

When we see a day of trouble approach, it concerns us to prepare. A good hope through grace is founded in holy fear. The prophet looked back upon the experiences of the church in former ages, and observed what great things God had done for them, and so was not only recovered, but filled with holy joy. He resolved to delight and triumph in the Lord; for when all is gone, his God is not gone. Destroy the vines and the fig-trees, and you make all the mirth of a carnal heart to cease. But those who, when full, enjoyed God in all, when emptied and poor, can enjoy all in God.

They can sit down upon the heap of the ruins of their creature-comforts, and even then praise the Lord, as the God of their salvation, the salvation of the soul, and rejoice in him as such, in their greatest distresses.

Joy in the Lord is especially seasonable when we meet with losses and crosses in the world.

Even when provisions are cut off, to make it appear that man lives not by bread alone, we may be supplied by the graces and comforts of God’s Spirit. Then we shall be strong for spiritual warfare and work, and with enlargement of heart may run the way of his commandments, and outrun our troubles. And we shall be successful in spiritual undertakings. Thus the prophet, who began his prayer with fear and trembling, ends it with joy and triumph.

And thus faith in Christ prepares for every event.

The name of Jesus, when we can speak of Him as ours, is balm for every wound, a cordial for every care. It is as ointment poured forth, shedding fragrance through the whole soul.

In the hope of a heavenly crown, let us sit loose to earthly possessions and comforts, and cheerfully bear up under crosses.

Yet a little while, and He that shall come will come, and will not tarry; and where he is, we shall be also.

MY MOTHER HAD A NEWBORN SON

Today is my brother’s 50th birthday.  I was almost 12 when he was born.  I wrote this poem as I remembered the time and circumstances surrounding his birth, and now his need for a second birth.

MY MOTHER HAD A NEWBORN SON

My mother had a newborn son,
Just when she thought her work was done,
He was the child of her midlife,
He was the child of her midlife.

My mother had a newborn son,
Before she knew it he turned one,
He grew and grew each year one more,
Till grown he was a man one score.

What love she had for her young’un,
She gave him all she had to give,
She gave him all she had to give.

My mother had a newborn son,
When she was old her work was done,
Then sickness came upon her brow,
‘Twas then to Jesus her knee bowed.

BLEATING OF THE SHEEP: The Acceptance Of Roman Catholicism By Evangelicals

Thinking we are more merciful than God is not a good idea.

Disobeying God is not a good idea either.

Yet in our modern day a very large portion of the “church” does not acknowledge that there is a curse on what Scripture tells us God curses.

Galatians 1:6-10 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

Rome preaches “another gospel” yet, like Saul, we disobey God’s Word.  We think we know better than God.  We think we are more merciful than God.  We let Roman Catholics into our Evangelical circles and call them brethren, rather than witnessing to them and calling them to repentance from their false gospel and idolatry. We call this love.  This is not love. To let someone think they are right with God when they are on their way to hell is not loving at all. I loved my mother and father and family members enough to tell them the truth. I can do no less for anyone else.

Yes I hear the bleating of the sheep in the church.  It is loud, and clear, and everywhere, and I believe that many professing Christians have turned back from following the Lord and do not even realize it.

1 Samuel 15:10-11 Then came the word of the LORD unto Samuel, saying, It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments.

1 Samuel 15:14 And Samuel said, What meaneth then this bleating of the sheep in mine ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?

1 Samuel 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

It is dangerous to be found in the company of God’s enemies, and it is our duty and interest to come out from among them, lest we share in their sins and plagues, Re 18:4.

Observe, We must mourn for the rejection of sinners, 1. Though we withdraw from them, and dare not converse familiarly with them. Thus the prophet determines to leave his people and go from them, and yet to weep day and night for them, Jer. 9:1, 2. 2. Though they do not mourn for themselves. Saul seems unconcerned at the tokens of God’s displeasure which he lay under, and yet Samuel mourns day and night for him. Jerusalem was secure when Christ wept over it.
