BILLY GRAHAM CRUSADES EVANGELIZE CATHOLICS INTO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

After several attempts to write a little introduction to this post all I can say is that this is simply wicked.

The Catholic Telegraph, May 10, 2002 …

Billy Graham’s crusade in Cincinnati, Ohio, June 27-30, 2002, included full participation of the Roman Catholic Church. In preparation for the crusade, five Catholic parishes — Our Lady of Lourdes in Westwood, Our Lady of the Rosary in Greenhills, Our Lady of the Rosary and Guardian Angels in Cincinnati, and Trinity Center in Dayton — presented week-long courses to prepare Catholic counselors to deal with those who came forward in response to Graham’s invitations. According to Curtis Kneblik, assistant director of evangelization for the Roman Catholic archdiocese of Dayton, invitations were sent out to 9,000 Catholics to request their participation in this training, and hundreds responded. Priest Charles Bowes told his parish that the Graham mission was a “golden opportunity to evangelize Catholics and to help our parish…” (The Catholic Telegraph, May 10, 2002).

A letter from Cardinal Roger Mahony, dated October 6, 2004, and posted at the archdiocese web site, stated …

“When the Crusade was held in other locations, many Catholics responded to Dr. Graham’s message and came forward for Christ. Crusade officials expect the same for the Los Angeles area. These officials have assured me that, IN KEEPING WITH DR. GRAHAM’S BELIEF AND POLICY, THERE WILL BE NO PROSELYTIZING, AND THAT ANYONE IDENTIFYING HIM OR HERSELF AS CATHOLIC WILL BE REFERRED TO US for reintegration into the life of the Catholic Church. We must be ready to welcome them.”

AN INTERESTING QUOTE …

An interesting quote by Matthew Henry.  What he said is true.  I wonder what he would say if he were alive to observe the political “organized church” of our day.

“Christ’s kingdom is spiritual, and not of this world.

Christianity does not meddle with politics.

Matthew Henry”

SHE NEVER CAME BACK HOME

A woman from my old neighborhood was the victim of a hit and run a couple of days ago. I didn’t know her, I read about it in the news.  I know the streets there well.  She ran out to get cold medicine at the pharmacy for her husband but she never made it back home.  She was only 38 years old.  She was a nurse.  She was married and had two young daughters 11 and 13 years old.  She had just celebrated the holidays with her family.  Her mother was in town, visiting from another country.  A family member would soon be having a wedding. In the midst of all this joyous activity this young woman walked out the door never to return. They buried her yesterday.  What a shock.  What a heartbreak. There are many promises in the Bible but tomorrow is not one of them.  It really makes you think.  Can’t seem to get it out of my mind.  I am praying for the family.

Proverbs 27:1 Boast not yourself of to morrow; for you know not what a day may bring forth.

Clarke Commentary:

Boast not thyself of tomorrow … Do not depend on any future moment for spiritual good which at present thou needest, and God is willing to give, and without which, should death surprise thee, thou must be eternally lost; such as repentance, faith in Christ, the pardon of sin, the witness of the Holy Spirit, and complete renovation of soul. Be incessant in thy application to God for these blessings.

I DON’T UNDERSTAND

I’ve been thinking that Billy Graham probably has had more influence on born again believers than I ever gave him credit for.  Why do I say that?  Because so many Christians that I come into contact with do not seem to understand that the Roman Catholic Church does not preach the true Gospel.  It’s that simple, yet many will not be persuaded of that fact.  That includes Pastors also.  And it seems that even if they do know they will not speak about it publicly.  Hmm.  If silence had prevailed in the past the Reformation never would have happened.  There also would have been fewer martyrs.  I don’t understand how Christians can categorize the Mormon religion as a cult, the Jehovah Witnesses as a cult, but categorize Roman Catholicism as one of the valid Christian denominations.  Hmm.  Billy Graham … well respected … yet yoked with Rome for years … has done tremendous damage to the Body of Christ.  But who will listen?  When I speak about this to believers it seems to fall on deaf ears.  I don’t understand, but I guess I do …

2 Timothy 4:3-4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

THE SYNAGOGUE OF SATAN

Revelation 3:9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.

Matthew Henry Commentary:
*
Assemblies that worship God in spirit and in truth are the Israel of God; …
*
assemblies that either worship false gods, or …
*
the true God in a false manner, …
*
are the synagogues of Satan: …
*
though they may profess to be the only people of God, …
*
their profession is a lie.
