Born again brothers and sisters in Christ, please take a moment to read this through. It’s important because souls are important to the Lord. The recent words of Pope Francis (see below) prompted me to write this.
More than twenty five years ago I began seeking truth. As I prayed and read the Bible I began to see, by God’s grace, that Rome’s gospel was “another gospel”. It took some time, but the more I read and prayed the clearer it became. In the beginning all was not clear. I knew something was wrong but I just couldn’t, as they say, put my finger on it. My Catholic friends proclaimed Jesus. What could be wrong? So I prayed and read my Bible, and I prayed and read my Bible some more. Those many years ago, the Lord in His faithfulness lead me to many Scriptures and those Scriptures taught me.
One was 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Other Scripture passages were in 2 Kings 17 (see below). Then I clearly understood. Roman Catholicism was mixed and mongrel worship which the Bible tells us is no worship at all.
I bring this up again because in our day, multitudes of true Christians are being influenced to think that Roman Catholics are true Christians. The result is that fewer Catholics will be evangelized. If they are not evangelized they will die in their sins. Billy Graham, Franklin Graham, Rick Warren, and Chuck Smith, are just four among many who influence in this way.
If you look at the quoted material below you will find Pope Francis, the current Roman Catholic Pope, petitioning Mary Queen of Peace for help regarding the situation in Syria. The man is deceived just like I was. Make no mistake born again Christian brother and sister, this is the way it is with Roman Catholics. I know because Mary was my mediator and the mediator of those in my family who prayed. I was a Roman Catholic for almost forty years. Roman Catholicism is not genuine Christianity. Those who practice it and accept it do so at their own peril.
Pope Francis quote …
“To this end, brothers and sisters, I have decided to proclaim for the whole Church on 7 September next, the vigil of the birth of Mary, Queen of Peace, a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Syria, the Middle East, and throughout the world, and I also invite each person, including our fellow Christians, followers of other religions and all men of good will, to participate, in whatever way they can, in this initiative.
Let us ask Mary to help us to respond to violence, to conflict and to war, with the power of dialogue, reconciliation and love. She is our mother: may she help us to find peace; all of us are her children! Help us, Mary, to overcome this most difficult moment and to dedicate ourselves each day to building in every situation an authentic culture of encounter and peace. Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for us!
After the Angelus
Mary Queen of Peace, pray for us! Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for us!
2 Kings 17:34 To this day they do after the former manners: they fear not the LORD, neither do they after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law and commandment which the LORD commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;
Wesley:
As the Israelites before their captivity, gave these nations an ill example, in serving the Lord, and Baal together; so, or after their former manner, they do unto this day, in the land of their captivity. They fear not – Though they pretended to fear, and serve both the Lord and idols, yet in truth they did not, and do not fear or worship the Lord, but their own calves, or other vain inventions: and God will not accept that mongrel and false worship, which they pretend to give to the true God. … they did not fear the Lord, whatsoever they pretended, because they lived in the constant breach of his statutes.
2 Kings 17:41 So these nations feared the LORD, and served their graven images, both their children, and their children’s children: as did their fathers, so do they to this day.
Gill:
“worshipped God and Baal”
“mixed and mongrel worship”
