Yesterday my daughter was asked to look at a house for someone. She asked if I wanted to go along and I did. The owners were home when we went in with the realtor, which is unusual. After we toured the house we all stood in the kitchen chatting. Such a sweet elderly couple I thought, I wish I could give them one of the tiny Bible booklets (tract) that I give out. Then I wondered if it was appropriate to give out a Bible tract in a situation such as this. But after thinking about who Jesus is, I thought yes, it absolutely is appropriate!
Colossions 1:15-17 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
I almost felt it was insulting to the Lord to even think it would be inappropriate to include him!
But how?
When?
It was starting to look like a lost opportunity, but as we said our goodbyes and headed out the door I was one of the last ones going out. I turned around and gave the husband a Bible tract. I think he said thank you, but I clearly remember he said “I understand”. His expression told me he probably saw it as a kind jesture, but his expression also told me he wasn’t receiving it, even though he took it.
After we left my daughter said there were things around the home indicating that they were probably Jewish. How did I miss that! I had a similar booklet tract in my purse specifically for Jewish people! When I got home I pulled out the Jewish tract from my purse and read it. It had a few Messianic prophecies but no Jesus, no gospel. Now I was happy that I gave him the other tract! Did the Lord blind me to the fact that they were Jewish? Probably!
I wish I could have sat down with that sweet elderly couple. I would have shared, if they let me, the Old Testament prophecies concerning Jesus, and shared the love of Jesus in the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ.
So little time.
A moment.
A little tract.
But the Lord can use it.
Bless his holy name.
Jesus Christ and the Fulfillment of Biblical Prophecy
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
