THANKSGIVING’S HERE…

It’s that time of year again. Besides turkey, we have Black Friday sales and pre Black Friday sales, all in preparation for the big day… Christmas! But what has all this to do with Jesus our Savior? Can you picture the apostle Paul Christmas shopping, or going around wishing everyone a Merry Christmas? Can you picture Peter doing that? How about Jesus? This is crazy what we as born again Christians are doing! (I don’t do it anymore.) And it is without a doubt unbiblical to celebrate a Roman Catholic day that is pagan at its roots! Some food for thought as we enjoy our Thanksgiving dinners.

CHRISTMAS – A Poem

Thanksgiving’s here, another year,

The race is on, we’re in high gear.

Black Friday, the official date,

The shopping mall, our starting gate.

So many trees, and twinkling lights,

Ah, gifts galore, oh what a sight!

The houses glow, adorned anew,

In colors green, red, white, and blue.

The stores are packed, with brand new fare,

And soon you’ll see a Santa there.

The music very mystical,

It makes one feel so whimsical.

Now clean, and cook, and decorate,

So much to do, we stay up late.

Send out the cards, and wrap the gifts,

No wonder that we need a lift.

The day has come, dinner’s ready,

Family gathered, people many.

But do they know of Gospel grace,

Dare you preach it, now, in this place?

If they’re lost, what could be merry,

Sudden death would be so scarey.

Affections set on things above,

I say these things because I love.

*

His death remember, that He said,

Not day of birth, we’re so misled.

What have these earthly things to do,

With Jesus Christ who died for you?

John 4:23-24 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

1 Corinthians 11:23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:

1 Corinthians 11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

1 Corinthians 11:25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

1 Corinthians 11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.

THE MISSING CANE

I was shopping at Kohl’s recently and I had my cane with me, a gift from my daughter. I was browsing in the petite section of the store and I hung my cane on a nearby rack so I could look around more easily. It wasn’t long before I went to retrieve it, but it was nowhere to be found. I was thinking, how can this be?

My husband was waiting for me outside and I sent him a text asking him to come help me look for my cane. The petite section is small so he was thinking we’ll find it, no problem. We both looked and looked. No cane.

I went to customer service and they made an announcement for the sales associates in the petite section to look also. Nothing. Customer service said the cleaning staff will find it and return it to us if it’s in the store. So I left my name and phone number with them, hoping it would turn up.

For the next three weeks we prayed. I prayed to the Lord and said… “Lord, Your eyes see that cane right now, and I find that to be amazing. Please return it to me. If someone stole it, bring conviction and let them have no peace until they return it. If it fell under a rack somewhere, let it be found by someone.” I also prayed that if it was stolen, and the person was fearful of returning it, that they would just quietly return it to the spot where it was taken.

I prayed everyday the same thing. As I said, this went on for three weeks, and I would stop by the store every so often to see if my cane was returned. No cane.

Then the phone call came. “Hello, this is Kohl’s, someone found your cane in the petite section and brought it to customer service.”

What!

The cane was a gift, and it’s not good to lose a gift. But even so, it’s not so much about the cane, but the nearness of the Lord I felt when my prayer was answered!

I may never know where that cane was for three weeks, but If it was stolen and returned, I’m praying that person would sense the power of God in this whole episode, leading them to seek the Lord and His glorious salvation!

Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

MY MOM’S SALVATION TESTIMONY

Today, November 10th, is the date on which my Mom was born into this world.

I loved my Mom dearly and for many years I prayed for her and shared God’s Word with her.

What follows is my Mom’s testimony of being delivered from the false gospel of Rome, and being born again into the Kingdom of God. Hallelujah!

At the links below you will find all of the articles I have posted about my mother.  The Lord Jesus Christ is the “Man Under Authority” and with Him all things are possible. Walk in the Spirit.  Walk in love.  Evangelize!

MIRACLE OF MERCY

Psalm 116:1 I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.

Matthew Henry:

Note, It is God’s great mercy to us that we are alive; and the mercy is the more sensible if we have been at death’s door and yet have been spared and raised up, just turned to destruction and yet ordered to return. That a life so often forfeited, and so often exposed, should yet be lengthened out, is a miracle of mercy. The deliverance of the soul from spiritual and eternal death is especially to be acknowledged by all those who are now sanctified and shall be shortly glorified.

Or, “Thou hast delivered my feet from falling into the grave, when I had one foot there already.”

HE THAT EATETH MY FLESH, AND DRINKETH MY BLOOD…

John 6:56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

Matthew Henry:

Eating this flesh and drinking this blood mean believing in Christ.

John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Ellicott:

His teaching is to be, not carnally, but spiritually understood. They think of a physical eating of His flesh, and this offends them;

Matthew Poole:

It is not therefore the carnal eating of my flesh that I intended, that is a very gross conception of yours;

nor can any such thing as that do you good:

but the words that I speak to you, they are spiritual, and such by the belief of which you may obtain a spiritual and eternal life;

for by believing those words, and obeying them, you shall come to believe in me, which is that eating my flesh and drinking my blood which I intended, not any corporeal or carnal eating.

JFB:

the flesh profiteth nothing—Much of His discourse was about “flesh”; but flesh as such, mere flesh, could profit nothing, much less impart that life which the Holy Spirit alone communicates to the soul.

John 7:38-39 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Matthew 15:17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?

Acts 7:48-50 Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet, Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest? Hath not my hand made all these things?

The martyrs spoke against the false Roman Catholic doctrine of Transubstantiation. Many were martyred for their faithfulness in defending the truth of God’s Word.
