BELIEVERS IN THE DAY OF CORONA & SPURGEON AND THE CHOLERA OUTBREAK OF 1854

Two excellent  posts…

Spurgeon and the Cholera Outbreak of 1854 – by Geoff Chang at The Spurgeon Center

Spurgeon:

“Not every evangelistic opportunity will result in dramatic conversions. But during times of disease, surprising opportunities may arise. Therefore, take advantage of any opportunities you might have to preach the gospel to those who are suffering.”

“If there ever be a time when the mind is sensitive, it is when death is abroad. I recollect, when first I came to London, how anxiously people listened to the gospel, for the cholera was raging terribly. There was little scoffing then.”

In times of trial and sorrows mankind is looking for God. When is it all past we humans seem to forget that God was so gracious unto us.
Spurgeon, he is straight forward it is either Christ crucified or God’s adversary. It’s either one or the other; it cannot be both. And yet all of his sermons are so encouraging.

    • Cathy says:

      Amen!

      Hebrews 2:
9But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

10For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
