Missouri megachurch under fire after photos show packed Christmas services
But it’s more than packed services. Look at the Christmas show at James River Church. I once heard a pastor speak about discernment. (I’m paraphrasing because I don’t remember his exact words.) He asked… does what you read, hear and see line up with Scripture. Does it have the same “flavor” (for lack of a better word) as Scripture.

Cathy, thanks for this. The mega-church we attended up until C-19 was moving in this direction, with “cultural relevance” (aka worldly entertainment) beginning to trump Scripture and godly purpose and orderliness.

Its good you got and your wife got out of that church Tom. It’s amazing isn’t it. When I first saw snippets of the video I thought this is a show not church. So how did we get here, and do born again believers really sit through that without giving it a thought. And how does any true pastor allow that. All rhetorical questions.

I would enjoy reading an exposé by a godly pastor or theologian on the rise of this seeker, movie theater “church” movement started by Rick Warren and Peter Drucker, but the compromise is so pervasive today no one would publish it.

Interestingly Billy thought of the same Scripture Beth. Hillsong, I think in New York, does similar Christ dishonoring presentations. 😢

I watched just the first ten minutes of this and could not take any more. No. The ‘flavor’ is all wrong.

I didn’t watch much either Linda. Very disturbing. Can we picture Jesus there, or Paul or Peter? I think not.
