THE REMNANT

THE REMNANT

I am alone, Elijah said,

What was the Lord’s reply?

Reserved are seven thousand men,

A remnant who are Mine.

*

Though prophets false abound today,

Hell’s gates shall not prevail.

There is a faithful remnant still,

Whose knees bow not to Baal.

*

They’re hidden ones around the world,

Christ’s Body here on earth,

United in the Holy Ghost,

Because of their new birth.

*

We have a cloud of witnesses,

The Lord stands with us too,

And brethren living in all lands,

This knowledge helps us through.

*

So when we think alone we stand,

Remember that it’s true,

There’s always been, there’ll always be,

The remnant, faithful, few.

Romans 11:3-4 Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life. But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.

  1. Thanks for reposting this good poem, Cathy! We turn on our TVs and see the garbage on TBN and Daystar or walk through a “Christian” bookstore and see that the books mostly push the prosperity gospel or search for a church in our area only to find that many/most have adopted the seeker-sensitive, movie theater/rock concert model. We could become discouraged but instead we’ll keep following our Shepherd.
