  1. Cathy, thanks for sharing this. The free will vs. election debate has been going on since the early church. There are verses and passages in the Bible that both Calvinists and Arminians use as proof texts to support their view. I’m one of those Calvinist-Arminians who believes even our faith is a gift from God but we also have free will. It’s a mystery we won’t comprehend until we’re in Heaven.

    • Hi Tom, thank you for your interesting comment. Calvinist-Armenian is an unusual mix! 🙂 I definitely am not a Calvinist as you know, but I do believe in free will as you do. I also believe one can fall away from the faith.

      • Hey Cathy, our very first Gospel-preaching church where I was discipled was independent fundamental Baptist, and they walked between Calvinism and Arminianism, which is where I get it from. Our pastor taught free will and disparaged the TULIP from the pulpit, but also taught eternal security, that a genuine believer might backslide, but not apostatize, therefore it was taught those passages that mentioned apostasy refer to the tares in the church.

I generally avoid the Calvinism-Arminianism debate – I think I wrote one post on the topic in almost six years, but I like a friendly chit chat like this. 😊 Believers have disagreements on the secondaries and tertiaries but we are united in Jesus Christ and the Gospel!

  2. Some choose that belief and some don’t but I believe He died to give everyone the best AND only opportunity ever to be reconciled to God our heavenly Father! For an eternity!!
That was Jesus purpose in this world and on this earth! 🙌❤️
