Excellent post at Lighthouse Trails…
Excerpt… “with Christian leaders like Beth Moore and Rick Warren (who are followed by millions) doing their part to show the evangelical church that there is nothing seriously wrong with linking arms with Rome, maybe the eRosary will be attractive to evangelical young people as well. That is not as far fetched as it may sound to some…”
Not far fetched at all!
I can think of two instances when Protestant women were lured into praying the rosary.
The first was at the former large non-denominational church we attended. My husband was in the lobby of the church where people often fellowshipped after or before a service. A woman we knew who attended the church told him that she had joined a Catholic Charismatic prayer group. My husband warned her. He said they’ll have you praying the rosary before long, The lady looked at him and said I feel sick. They already have me praying the rosary!
The second was at the nursing home where we held Sunday services for the residents. One Christian woman who grew up in the Evangelical church told us she had joined a Catholic prayer group at the nursing home. I warned her. I told her they would want to teach her the rosary. She said she was already learning it! As we spoke she told me that when she was young her mother warned her about Roman Catholicism. I think she may have had Catholic friends that were leading her astray. She told me her mother warned her to stay away. I told her your Mother’s prayers were heard because here I am in love to warn you again.
I found this “Pulpit and Pen” post on “Apostasy Watch”.
The Scriptures could not be clearer. Do not add to God’s word, yet we have rampant ecumenism in the Evangelical church. We yoke with Rome and celebrate her “holidays” such as Christmas, Easter etc. and think nothing of it. Are we more influenced by our Pastors and those around us than by God’s Word? Is this a small thing? Where is our fear of God?
Proverbs 30:6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
Deuteronomy 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
Ye shall not add to the word which I command you, nether shall you diminish ought from it,….
as the Scribes and Pharisees did in Christ’s time, who by their traditions made the word of God of none effect,
as do the Papists also by their unwritten traditions;
Revelation 22:18-19 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
as the Pharisees did upon the law; and when unwritten traditions are made to be equal to it, or above it, as the same persons made the traditions of the elders, whereby they transgressed the law, and made the word of God of none effect, and so broke through the precept given, Deuteronomy 4:2
as do the Papists in like manner; and when men pretend to visions and revelations, and make them the rule of faith and practice, and to confirm things that are neither in this book, nor in any other part of the word of God;
Matthew 24:3-4 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
Before I was born again, and left the Catholic Church, I was heavily involved in the Roman Catholic Charismatic Renewal. I was part of more than one Catholic charismatic prayer group. As a Catholic charismatic I became…
– more devoted to Mary and praying the rosary,
– more devoted to Marian apparitions, especially Medjugorge,
– and more devoted to the Adoration of the “Blessed Sacrament” which is the communion host (Transubstantiation).
In short I became a devout Roman Catholic, embracing Rome’s false doctrines more completely and enthusiastically than ever before. And this was the experience of many of the Catholic charismatics I associated with.
I came out of Rome. I had people witness to me. The Gospel of Rome is a false Gospel that cannot and will not save anyone. Many stayed.
I say all this because Pastors today are calling for unity with Rome.
What if you brought your unsaved mother or father to a church service and heard that all denominations need to unite, and all denominations included the Catholic Church. I know my Roman Catholic parents would have been confused, and my father would have said “you see!” because he was resisting my Christian witness.
Today we have many well known pastors and leaders calling for unity with Rome.
Here’s one example. Carter Conlon of Times Square Church. You can read the excerpt below from his sermon or watch it at this video at the 10:35 mark. You will also find Beth Moore earlier in the video saying very clearly, with illustrations, that Roman Catholics are part of the Body of Christ. Hillsong Church is another group that calls for unity with Rome. Do research, the list is unending.
Remember… Foxes Book of Martyrs?
Love the Roman Catholic by witnessing to them.
Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
