PASTORS cont.

What follows are more of our experiences in the modern day institutional church regarding Roman Catholicism.

1. The Visiting Preacher

Years ago, in my church, a visiting preacher shared about his meeting with a Roman Catholic nun. His sermon message was that the Catholic nun loved Jesus and she was a sister in Christ. My friend, a former Catholic, was sitting next to me. When she realized where this sermon was going, she took hold of my arm and wanted us to walk out of the church. But I told her that we should stay and hear what else this man had to say to the congregation, so that we would be fully prepared to address his disturbing message with the Pastor of the church. This was later done by my husband and I but to no avail.

2. The Three Catholic Ladies… (Former Catholics)

In another church we attended, there were three ladies who were born again and who had come out of the Catholic church. They told us about witnessing to their families, and wanting to get a microphone so they could preach in the park. My husband and I loved talking with them. We lovingly called them the three Catholic ladies because they were former Catholics like us. One day, one of them, I’ll call her the unofficial leader of the three, came up to us and asked if we believed that the Catholics were ok. In other words she wanted to know if Catholics needed to be evangelized. My husband and I were shocked by her question. That was an odd question for her to ask after all we had shared with one another other in the past. She said she asked our Pastor that same question earlier (a man who is known worldwide) and his answer was yes, the Catholics are ok. Think for a moment, about the incredibly bad influence of just a few words from one famous man.

3. The Billy Graham Crusade

Another example of the bad influence of a famous man. My husband and I worked as counselors at one of the Billy Graham crusades. A Roman Catholic who filled out a decision card was sent back to the Roman Catholic church for discipleship. Years later we discussed this wicked practice with one of our Pastors. It was a church where Billy Graham was held in high esteem. We were politely asked if we thought our time at that church might be up.

4. The Church We Could Have Joined

I liked the church. The Pastoral leadership wanted us but with this stipulation… “if only we would flow with the Catholics”. We would not flow!

5. The Nursery School

I found out that the principal of the nursery school of my church was a Roman Catholic. The Pastor allowed this. The believer who told me about it didn’t think there was anything wrong with that.

6. Unbiblical Counsel

I was asking my former Pastor for counsel in finding a new church. I told him that our testimony about Roman Catholicism was not received by the churches we attempted to join. His reply… “well then stop talking about the Catholics”!

Duplicity

I must say that I did not think that believers could be so easily swayed from truth, but my experiences have brought me to the conclusion that big name preachers have had an incredibly negative influence on the church. They deceive by preaching the true Gospel while at the same time validating a false gospel. We have had many interactions with born again believers regarding Roman Catholicism. They don’t seem to understand the simple fact that Rome preaches another gospel.

Focusing often on one topic may cause some to think that we are somewhat unbalanced. But when so many Christians are weighed down with falsehood on one specific topic, it is important for us to repeatedly tip the scale with an abundance of truth, even though some may think us odd for seeming to be so single minded. It is imperative that we born again believers shout a clear and consistent warning regarding Rome. The bottom line is that if believers think Roman Catholics are taught the true Gospel, they will think that there is no need for evangelism.

2 Corinthians 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

Galatians 1:8-9 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

RELAPSE INTO HEATHENISM

In our modern day, many pastors have forgotten “it is written”, and they have “relapsed into heathenism.”  The scary thing is that no one seems to notice or care.  We need to read Foxes Book of Martyrs and Martyrs Mirror and stop listening to our modern day “prophets” who tell us Rome’s false gospel is valid.  My mother, father, and my dear friend Carmela, all gone out of this world, were blessed to hear God’s truth.  But what about all those who will never hear the true Gospel because of the rampant deception that is flourishing within the Evangelical Church?  What about them?  Do we care?  Do we?

Luke 4:8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Matthew Henry

It is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God; and not only so, but him only, him and no other.

And therefore Christ will not worship Satan, nor, when he has the kingdoms of the world delivered to him by his Father, as he expects shortly to have, will he suffer any remains of the worship of the devil to continue in them.

No, it shall be perfectly rooted out and abolished, wherever his gospel comes.

He will make no composition with him.

Polytheism and idolatry must go down, as Christ’s kingdom gets up.

Men must be turned from the power of Satan unto God, from the worship of devils to the worship of the only living and true God.

This is the great Divine law that Christ will re-establish among men, and by his holy religion reduce men to the obedience of, …

That God only is to be served and worshipped; and therefore whoever set up any creature as the object of religious worship, …

though it were a saint …

or an angel, …

or the virgin Mary herself, …

they directly thwart Christ’s design, and relapse into heathenism.

POPE FRANCIS AND “MARY”

I’m hoping this type of quote will convince some that the Roman Catholic Church is not just another Christian denomination and that these people need our prayers and Gospel witness.

VATICAN CITY (AP) — Pope Francis opened his first morning as pontiff by praying Thursday at Rome’s main basilica dedicated to the Virgin Mary, …

He had told a crowd of some 100,000 people packed in rain-soaked St. Peter’s Square just after his election that he intended to pray Friday to the Madonna “that she may watch over all of Rome.”

WITNESSING TO A STRANGER

My husband and I were in a large store we were waiting to be helped. Also waiting for help was an elderly man who was of my Italian ancestry and Roman Catholic background. In addition to that he was from my old neighborhood. We chatted awhile and then the man said he had recently returned from visiting Lourdes and Fatima. He reminded me of my Dad and Italian family and my heart was broken. My husband felt the same way. How could we feel such love for a total stranger? The answer is that “the love of Christ constraineth us” (2 Corinthians 5:14). We gave him two tracts that look like little bibles …

Earlier in the day a believer that I know was minimizing Rome’s errors and Graham’s apostasy and duplicity. Nothing I could say would convince otherwise. As Keith Green proclaimed, the church is “asleep in the light”.
