In the Uncertainty of Life… We can have Glorious Certainty

If there is one thing that I can be sure of in the last few years, it’s that I can be sure of nothing – at least as regards anything tangible on this…

In the Uncertainty of Life… We can have Glorious Certainty

This Roman Catholic Church has given their congregants a deceptive and false assurance that the sins of those who have been infected by the Coronavirus are forgiven… Church forgives sins of those stricken by virus.

If you want to know the truth about the forgiveness of sin you will find it in God’s Word, the Bible.

Isaiah 55:6-7 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Additional Bible verses from comments…

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1John 1v9) Only “He” (God) has the power to forgive sins. (Elizabeth)

Psalms 51 comes to mind: –9 Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. -10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. -17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. (Jackie)

Sometimes our trials in this life can be overwhelming, but God’s Word always brings us comfort…

Hebrews 12:3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Albert Barnes Commentary:

For consider him – Attentively reflect on his example that you may be able to bear your trials in a proper manner.

That endured such contradiction of sinners – Such opposition.  The idea is, that we are to pursue the path of duty and follow the dictates of conscience, let the world say what they will about it. In doing this we cannot find a better example than the Saviour. No opposition of sinners ever turned him from the way which he regarded as right; no ridicule ever caused him to abandon any of his plans; no argument, or expression of scorn, ever caused him for a moment to deviate from his course.

Lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds – The meaning is, that there is great danger of being disheartened and wearied out by the opposition which you meet with. But with the bright example of one who was never disheartened, and who never became weary in doing the will of God, you may persevere. The best means of leading a faithful Christian life amidst the opposition which we may encounter, is to keep the eye steadily fixed on the Saviour.
