“The Radicals” is a very sobering movie about martyrs Michael and Margaretha Sattler. We’ve watched it several times. You’ll find more information and a short movie trailer at Lighthouse Trails, at the link below…

The following post was written in 2007. Ecumenism continues to infiltrate the church of our day, and there continues to be a deafening silence from those who should be speaking out!

This is an older post that has been edited.

I remember someone witnessing to me many years ago when I was a Roman Catholic. They gave me some Biblical literature which revealed the unbiblical person and position of the Roman Catholic Pope of Rome. Way back then, after reading the material I was given, I had two reactions that I clearly remember. One was interest (I read it all) and the other was a type of fear. I hid the literature. It’s truthful contents sounded very strange to me. I didn’t want anyone to see it, so I hid it, … BUT … I didn’t throw it out.

The truths that were presented to me went against the grain of the beliefs that I had held for almost 40 years of my life. They were beliefs held by the multitudes, including almost everyone I knew! These truths that I read were so strange, different and scary to me at that time. They couldn’t be true… or could they.

In time the Lord sent someone else to gently but boldly witness to me, and that’s when I was led to the path of searching for truth. I found that truth in God’s Word, the Bible, and I was born again.

We do not gauge truth by popular opinion. Just because “everybody” does it or believes it doesn’t make it true or right. We, as born again Christians, know that oh so well.

Some food for thought…

The Roman Catholic Christmas holiday is celebrated by many worldwide, and it is accepted and observed as a legitimate Christian holiday, even by born again Christians. But just because “everybody” does it or believes it, doesn’t make it true or right. Two local Protestant churches in our area celebrate the Christmas season and the birth of Jesus, along with events where photos with Santa can be taken. That alone would be enough for me to say… I’m outta here, but that is just the tip of the iceberg. I know I’m not going to win any popularity contests with this one, but the following portion of Scripture comes to mind at this time of the year, because Christmas Day is so revered that even wars cease for a day on Christmas Day, in it’s honor.

Revelation 13:3 …and all the world wondered after the beast.

Ellicott’s Commentary:

The spirit of the wild beast is adored wherever worldliness prevails.

…the universality the Papists boast of, as a note of the true church, is manifestly a mark of the beast, or of antichrist; and also the great esteem he is had in by his followers, who admire his power and authority, his grandeur, pomp, and riches, his signs and lying wonders, his pretended infallibility and holiness, his stock of merits and unwritten traditions, his skill to interpret Scripture, and his power to forgive sins, and the like: they went after him, obeyed him, embraced his doctrines, attended his religion and worship with wonder and amazement.

What Jesus did say was to remember… remember His atoning death.

“For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew [proclaim, promulgate:–declare, preach, shew, speak of, teach] the Lord’s death till he come.”

Proclaim the Lord’s atoning death for lost sinners.

1 Corinthians 11:23-26 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew [proclaim, promulgate:–declare, preach, shew, speak of, teach] the Lord’s death till he come.

From the housetops.

Matthew 10:27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

For the love of Jesus.

Romans 5:8-11 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

Pastor Ben Crandall was a guest speaker at my former church many times, and he was one of my favorite preachers. He would always bring an encouraging word, and give testimonies that would just bless your heart. Here’s one of them. Having said that, can you imagine my shock and dismay when I found the “Benjamin Crandall Documentary” on YouTube where he says this…

“And now I am going to be speaking in the most famous Catholic Church in America, St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Because we were faithful in the humble, God said now speak here in the most prestigious Catholic Church in America. When we drove up and I walked in, the cathedral was packed to the doors. Oh what a wonderful thing when God speaks to you and you listen to him and you go because the harvest is great and is perhaps the greatest today it’s ever been.”

I shouldn’t be dumbfounded, but I am!

Here are a couple of screenshots from the video where he tells of speaking at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City.

St. Patrick’s Cathedral, New York City

The cathedral was packed to the doors.

How can this be? Just when I thought I’ve heard it all, then this! Apparently he received a warm welcome when preaching at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. That wouldn’t be the case if he warned the people about Rome’s counterfeit gospel! (Have you ever read Fox’s Book of Martyrs?) The interesting thing is that in the past we mailed Pastor Crandall a VHS cassette of “The Roman Catholic Deception”, but he never responded. This was before YouTube came into existence.

(You can now find “The Roman Catholic Deception” series on the Soul Refuge YouTube channel.)

Matthew 24:3-4 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

You cannot have Christian unity with the Roman Catholic Church because the Roman Catholic Church is not a Christian church!

This Roman Catholic Franciscan website celebrates the ecumenical spirit of our day as a good thing. Not! Yes, we’ve come a long way, but we’ve come a long way in the wrong direction!

Here’s another view of the ecumenical spirit that is so very prevalent in our day.
