THE TRUTH ABOUT “I will bless them that bless thee …”

False doctrine abounds today and Christian Zionism and Dispensational theology is at the top of the false doctrine list.  Beliefs determine behavior and when a false doctrine is accepted as truth it will have deadly consequences.  It is a great unkindness to lead a Jewish unbeliever to think that the blessing of God is upon him in his unbelieving condition when in reality it is the wrath of God which is upon him or any other person who does not believe the glorious gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Galatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

Galatians 3:29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Matthew 1:1 The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

MHCC:

The promise of the blessing was made to Abraham and his seed; of the dominion, to David and his seed. It was promised to Abraham that Christ should descend from him,

Genesis 12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Genesis 22:18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

and to David that he should descend from him,

2 Samuel 7:12 And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. Psalms

89:3 I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant,

Psalms 132:11 The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.

and, therefore, unless Jesus is a son of David, and a son of Abraham, he is not the Messiah. Now this is here proved from well-known records. When the Son of God was pleased to take our nature, he came near to us, in our fallen, wretched condition; but he was perfectly free from sin: and while we read the names in his genealogy, we should not forget how low the Lord of glory stooped to save the human race.

MORE ON CHRISTIAN ZIONISM AND IT’S BAD FRUIT

Comment on the content of a recent newsletter from Christians United For Israel (CUFI)…

Excerpt:

No mention of supporting the persecuted Messianic Jews in Israel….

No mention of spreading the ‘Good News’ of the precious Gospel of Christ to those lost in Israel. But instead a misapplying of scripture, and a mandate to politically and financially support the political State of modern day Israel. This is tantamount to asking Christians to support the ‘beast’….for all governments are under the power of the prince of this world, satan, today.

No where in the Word of God are Christians told to:

1- ignore the plight of persecuted believers,

2- support a political power.

What we are told to do is:

1 – Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. (Mark 16),

2 – As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. (Galatians 6:10)

THE THREAT OF CHRISTIAN ZIONISM

An excellent article regarding the dangers of Christian Zionism.

You can read the entire article here … THE THREAT OF CHRISTIAN ZIONISM

Excerpt …

“… the impact that Christian Zionists have on international politics may bring about some very tragic results in the diplomacy of the Middle East, including very real bloodshed and bereavement which might have been avoided if the idea of Israel’s divine entitlement to the land had been abandoned (or rather, if it had been put in its proper perspective as that which guarantees that all of Abraham’s true children will inherit the new earth through much meekness and patient endurance). This effect of a wrong ideology, having such a vast and widespread capacity to do much harm, has no doubt been grossly underestimated by a great many Christian theologians who disagree with the basic premises underlying the Christian Zionist movement.

The Christian Zionist movement is the result of an aberrant theology, and is dangerous on several fronts: it tends to distract and confuse true believers in a vast segment of worldwide evangelicalism; it tends to obscure the true message of the gospel from the Jewish people, by presenting to them a false dichotomy which demands that they forfeit the Abrahamic promises if they should come to Christ (who actually fulfills them – tragic irony!); it tends towards greater doctrinal confusion and heresy, which has been seen even in the most respected and influential leaders of the movement, and not just on the radical fringe; and it tends to work against the preservation of peace in the Middle East, by obstinately refusing any sort of compromise. Any movement that has such a destructive potential, and that has in fact already had many such harmful effects, is no small issue. Perhaps it is time for the leaders of the worldwide Church to present a united front of opposition to a very widespread and alarming threat.”

CHRISTIAN ZIONISM DEFINED

Some time ago a Christian friend asked about Zionism.  At the time I couldn’t give a simple answer because I didn’t fully understand it myself.  This is my attempt to give a short basic answer to that question.

“ZIONISM is an international political movement that originally supported the reestablishment of a homeland for the Jewish People in Palestine, and continues primarily as support for the modern state of Israel.” (Wikipedia)

In 1891 by the Austrian publicist Nathan Birnbaum used the word “Zionism” to describe this movement.

A  ZIONIST is someone who supports the movement.

A CHRISTIAN ZIONIST is a Christian who supports the movement.

Many Christians support Zionism because they have been taught to do so in today’s church world.  It is taught that God’s covenant with Abraham regarding land is to be applied to modern day political secular Israel.  The teachings of Christian Zionism are based on an unscriptural interpretation of bible passages in the Old Testament such as Genesis 12:1-3.

Genesis 12:1-3 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

This often heard portion of scripture, “I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee,” is taken completely out of context when applied to unbelieving Jews.  In our day, the only blessing from God is upon the believer, both Jew and Gentile, who is filled with the Holy Ghost. The wrath of God is upon all unbelievers, whether they be Jew or Gentile.

John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

A Christian Zionist gives unconditional support to political secular Israel, as if God’s Israel and political secular Israel are one and the same. Christian Zionists support the Jewish people, and the nation of Israel, in all they do to gain or keep land. Christian Zionism incorrectly identifies who God’s Israel really is. It’s focus is on unregenerate ethnic Israel and an earthly piece of land, instead of focusing on the fact that everything designated in the bible as “forever” is fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

In supporting Christian Zionism, many Christians could inadvertently end up supporting bloodshed and injustice. We as Christians are to love all people. As believers in Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, this is one subject we want to understand correctly, because lives and eternal souls are at stake.

CHRISTIAN ZIONISM & ANTI-SEMITISM

To believe that Christian Zionism is not biblical in no way suggests that a person is anti-Semitic.

Definition of anti-Semitism:

Discrimination against or prejudice or hostility toward Jews. (dictionary.com)

This is what Christian Zionists erroneously teach:

(1) If you are not in agreement with the teachings of Christian Zionism, you are not blessing Israel;

(2) if you are not in agreement with the teachings of Christian Zionism, you are under God’s curse;

(3) if you are not in agreement with the teachings of Christian Zionism, you are anti-Semitic.

Nothing could be further from biblical truth. How sad.

If we are born again, our love for all people, including the Jews, will be – should be -evidenced by desiring their salvation.  We will preach the Gospel to them.

I bring to your attention the words of Paul the apostle:

Romans 9:1-5 I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh: Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises; Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.

Paul was also a minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles:

Romans 15:16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.

Yes, we love the Jewish people, but we love everyone else too.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

John 3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

John 3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

The apostasy has gone so far as to say that if you don’t bless Israel (the unbelieving Jewish people) you, as a believer in Jesus Christ, have a curse upon you.  On the other hand, if you bless Israel (the unbelieving Jewish people) you are blessed by God.  I ask believers to mediate on that.  Don’t we have things backwards?  Unbelievers blessed, believers cursed.  And then there’s the question of what it means to truly bless Israel?

Blessings and curses …

Galatians 3:1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

Galatians 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Galatians 3:3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

Galatians 3:4 Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.

Galatians 3:5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Galatians 3:6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

Galatians 3:7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

Galatians 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

Galatians 3:9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

Galatians 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

Galatians 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

Galatians 3:12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

Galatians 3:14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Galatians 3:15 Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.

Galatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

Galatians 3:17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

Galatians 3:18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

Galatians 3:19 Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

Galatians 3:20 Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.

Galatians 3:21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.

Galatians 3:22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

Galatians 3:23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

Galatians 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Galatians 3:25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

Galatians 3:26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Galatians 3:29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

And finally, let’s not forget that to reject the Messiah is to be of an antichrist spirit …

1 John 2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

1 John 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

1 John 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
