FOR THE LORD SHALL COMFORT ZION

Isaiah 51:3 For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

Recently I posted Isaiah 51:2 about Abraham being called alone because I can so relate to that. You can read that post… here. The next verse, Isaiah 51:3, speaks about the Lord comforting His people. I want to share just two of the things that really blessed and comforted me yesterday…

I wear a hat whenever I go out, a hat that proclaims Jesus. I pray almost every night that the Lord would use that hat to bless the saints and minister to the lost. Many times I get a joyful response from believers when they see the hat, and that is a wonderful blessing for both of us. It happened again yesterday, but for some reason yesterday was different. It made me tearful. A good kind of tearful, as in sensing the presence of the Lord. We were having lunch out when an older man passed our table. As he was leaving he turned around and gave me a thumbs up and a big smile. I responded likewise. I guess it struck me that no words were said, yet this stranger and I were both acknowledging our beloved Savior.

When we finished our meal we decided to go to a nearby lake just to sit a while and enjoy the view. When we sat down I noticed that there were several teens, boys and girls, hanging out at the pavilion next to us. I had seven little Bibles with me (they are really tracts in tiny booklet form) so I tried to count the teens. It seemed there were seven of them but I wasn’t sure. I was sorry I didn’t have more tracts with me, thinking next time I would be more prepared for any opportunity that the Lord presented. I hesitated quite a while about giving them tracts. I didn’t know if I had the courage to just walk into a crowd of teens. I waited and debated, should I do this, and then two of the girls walked away. I thought, there goes another opportunity lost because of my procrastination. But then they came back! I prayed and asked the Lord to help me, then walked over to the pavilion with my walker. I handed each one of them a little Bible. As I was handing them out I wasn’t sure I had enough, but there were exactly seven kids there, and I had exactly seven little Bibles! Each one accepted the little Bible, and they were all very polite. I’ve handed out many of those little Bibles over the years, but there was something special about yesterday. Again, it brought tears to my eyes, and I sensed the Lord’s presence again. The Lord knows how to comfort us, his “alone” children, as only he can!

I have a basket full of little Bibles in my home. I’ve been praying that the basket empties quickly and that I would have to refill it. Will you pray with me that the Lord would give us more opportunities to give out His Word, and to make His Gospel known. 🙏 🙌🏻 ❤️

  3. Wondering also if you would like to share for everyone where you get your Bible tracts so others may continue this work in different parts of the world 😊 You know the “ He told two friends and they told two friends and they told two friends and so on and so on… “🙌

  4. I loved this post, Cathy! I got the goosebumps reading it-and then remembered 7 is the number of perfection of God 🙌

I pray in Jesus mighty name that while you were “farming” the “seeds” our Heavenly Father gave you to “plant” have been planted in fertile “ground”! I pray that “crop” produces more “seeds” from that “planting” Sunday will be continually replanted.

(Do you remember that shampoo commercial where the lady told two friends about the shampoo and they told two friends and they told two friends? That popped in my mind, too!!)

ALL GLORY AND HONOR TO OUR HEAVENLY FATHER FOR THE SEEDS HE GIVES US TO PLAN! FOR THE BREAD HE GIVES US TO FEED THE HINGRY!FOR THE WATER HE GIVES US TO QUENCH THE THIRST!!

    • I say amen to your prayer, Beth! I put those 7 teens on my daily prayer list. In the young adult group where I attended church years ago there were young people who all attended the same college, and there was several who were saved around the same time. I don’t know how many or all the details but I do know two went on to become pastors, so I know what you mean about the shampoo analogy. I was thinking similar about these 7 teens. What a day that was. I’m praying for more like that!

  5. It’s just for monthly events in a community centre… reaching out with Christian literature…. drop in between certain hours… maybe light refreshments and a caring chat with those who call. I would’ve thought the community centre would have its own insurance… but no. The village I have a burden for is full of drug problems but God is able…

  6. Thank you for sharing these beautiful experiences Cathy. The Lord was surely with you when you had exactly 7 little Bibles. There’s that word “procrastination” coming up again. I heard it yesterday in a sermon too. The Lord has been asking me to do something in a certain place and I feel that I now must not put it off any longer…

    • Elizabeth, I pray the Lord gives you grace to do what He is asking. Procrastination comes so naturally to us doesn’t it. Saturday was such a wonderful day. Oh, for more days like that! We’ve been praying for your eyes. I hope you’re feeling better!

      • Thanks so much Cathy… I’m having a scan and more thorough look at the eyes later in the week. So far it’s definitely not as bad. As regards the other outreach I’ve been thinking of, it seems that by law extensive public liability insurance is needed no matter what you do… but the Lord will guide. Our day and age is not an easy one because of all the rules and regulations- and people just waiting to sue at every opportunity!

        • I’m glad your better and having your eyes checked. It always gives me peace when I have that done because of my history. Regarding “extensive public liability insurance” I’m shocked, although I shouldn’t be. Is that for street preaching or just for a more organized public outreach? I don’t think we have that here yet. I know we need a permit for any kind of speaker though. If you have that requirement there it won’t be long before it comes here.
